A small hamlet in Tver oblast near Staritsa with poor roads and an ordinary church dedicated to Saints Florus and Laurus (1835).

Several rich mansions are reminiscent of the times when Stepurino was a wealthy merchant village.

 

The red one has a name of its first owner, V. I. Belov.

 

For some inexplicable reason, one of the best hotels and certainly the best restaurant in the entire Tver region is located in Stepurino - "Usadba Kuptsa Bayeva" (the Manor of Baev the Merchant).

 

During dinner and breakfast, two owner's sighthounds beg for food. But they, of course, cannot be given anything from the table.

 

Getting in (as of May 2022): the road is bad both from Mikulino and from Staritsa. Buses go here only from the bus station in Staritsa.

Where to stay: "Usadba Kuptsa Bayeva"

Where to eat: as above. Just be sure to order beforehand, some of the dishes take time to cook.

What to buy: souvenirs are sold at the hotel.
