Saint Petersburg

See also the previous (May 2022) and the next (April 2023) reports.

Perhaps the ugliest part of the Neva river panorama is the St. Petersburg Hotel and the business center behind it, which was originally built as the annex of the mentioned hotel.

The only way not to see them is to stay there for the night. However, this pleasure is not for the superstitious. In 1991, a fire broke out in this hotel, 16 people died on the upper floors due to lack of means of rescue. But if you will decide to stay nonetheless you'll be rewarded with the view of Neva and the cruiser "Aurora".

Interiors of St. Isaac cathedral (1858).

Cathedral's heating system.

Apartment house on Voznesenskiy avenue (1907). Back in early 2010, the figures on the facade were intact.

Before the revolution Swedish Nobel family was one of the biggest investors in Russia. Near Bolshoy Sampsonievskiy avenue you can see the remnants of their St. Petersburg factory and the houses for employees.

City views.

Instagram and its logo were banned in Russia as far as I remember? Ah, let's forget about it.

Ortodox section with a grave of ufologist and his wife.

Cemetery Church of St. Righteous Job the Long-Suffering (1885) with a balcony around the central drum.

At the same time, the largest cemetery church, the Saviour Made Without Hands (1842) is still used as a factory.

Perhaps, a part of St. Petersburg completely unknown to tourists (including Russians) is the vicinity of the Okhta gunpowder factory. Former entrance to the factory.
