Smogiri

A village in Smolensk oblast and all its three sights in full view: TV mast (350 meters), a water tower with a stork nest and a church.

Church built in pseudo-Russian style in 1894 is distinguished by an intricate porch and a staircase for climbing to the upper level.

In 20th century the church was diligently destroyed and bombed, many traces of devastation are still visible.

Agriculture in this part of the Smolensk region has practically died out.

Getting in (as of April 2023): everything is straightforward if you go by car: the village is close to Moscow - Minsk highway near Smolensk.
