Belarus. Grodno, Korobchitsy

Grodno

See also: the previous report (June 2022).

The oldest wooden house in Grodno (late 17th century) on the premises of the Bridgettines monastery.

Bike service station.

View from the new 42-meter Ferris wheel in Gilibert Park.

Cats.

In general, every year the city is getting better.

Getting in (as of April 2023): direct M4 highway from Minsk, the railway is very slow.

Where to stay: Semashko hotel on Kalyuchinskaya st. Another hotel of this chain on Antonova st. is much worse.

Where to eat: local Western Belarusian kitchen in the Litviny restaurant located in the Trinity mall. Great coffee at Prosto kofe on Davida Grodnenskogo st.

What to buy: large grocery stores like Korona, Green or Euroopt highlight the local products on the shelves.

Korobchitsy

Forest edges in Belarus near the Polish border now look like this (actually not).

Korobchitsy is a village to the South-West of Grodno with an "agro-tourist complex" which offers a small museum of military equipment, stables, a zoo and a food stall. Feel free to visit if you are yearned for cringe. Zoo is pitiful: bald ostriches, a loud donkey, poor storks and ducks with clipped wings.

Pigeon hierarchy.

There are only two happy animal species in this zoo. First are the peacocks. They can frame chickens and walk where they please.

Fluffy back.

The second species are toads.

In the "partisan village" you can see the old decommissioned An-26 and Su-24 planes.

Katyusha rocket launcher with logs instead of missiles.

Imitation school for partisans of World War II. A question was asked In Belarusian: "What will I do after the war".

Getting in (as of April 2023): 15 minutes car ride from Grodno.
