Opochka

 

Another former castle town in Pskov oblast. Only ramparts remained of the fortress, the stairs on the top are even equipped with a lift for the disabled.

 

The park near the former castle. Cozy enough.

 

Most of the sights of Opochka can only be spoken of in the past tense, almost everything was destroyed during the Second World War. Few old buildings remain.

 

An old Post house (mid 19th century). It was an inn where horses were kept and could be rented or changed out by travelers. Now it is used as a central bus station.

 

Former technical school (1915), now a local museum.

Getting in (as of July 2022): E95/P-23 highway from Pskov or Moscow. Infrequent buses from Pskov are available
