Novomoskovsk

An industrial town in Tula oblast. It was found as Stalinogorsk in 1933 and became a "New Moscow" in 1961. It has quite a lot of notable stalinist architecture.

Militarism.

A source of Don, one of the major Russian rivers which flows to the Sea of Azov.

Garden at the corner of Berezhnoy and Oktyabrskaya streets. The statue in it is named "Family". Why there are one man, a child and two women in the "family" - the question seems too inappropriate to ask.

Stickers with imaginary animals.

Novomoskovites have become so accustomed to separate waste collection that color marking is enough for them and they do not need any hints about what type of waste to throw in which colored bin.

Getting in (as of Ocrober 2022): three of four hours ride from Moscow. Direct trains from Paveletsky railway station.

Where to eat: coffee shop Family on Komsomolskaya street offers nice coffee.

Where to stay: Mister Goodman hotel.
