Moscow

See also the previous report.

A brief overview of Moscow in 2023. Many new metro stations were inaugurated last year. Among them "Nagatinsky Zaton" on the Big Circle Line featuring large mosaics of fish.

Small fish details.

Another notable station is "Pykhtino" with a mock-up of the supersonic passenger plane Tu-144 under the ceiling.

The exhibits of the railway museum were evacuated from the Rizhsky Station, which was taken over for development. Unfortunately the trains are slowly being vandalized, which is clearly visible from the ES250 Sokol which posed to serve the high speed line between Moscow and St. Petersburg in 1990s. The money for the construction of the line were stolen and the train turned out to be extremely poorly designed.

The filmmakers vandalize what the vandals didn’t.

People are becoming wary of bicycles and e-scooters.

I think they take it as a personal insult.

Moscow cats.

New shopping center in front on Paveletskaya railway station.

The Tsar's Pavilion of the All-Russian Trade, Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1882. Previously, it was hidden on the territory of the Young Pioneer Stadium, but now the pioneers have grown up and instead of the stadium, the "Tsar’s Capital" residential complex was built for them.

Tiles of the pavilion.

The wall of the Young Pioneer Stadium grandstand, turned into a promenade.

View from the promenade to the new Stalinist-alike high-rise.

Half-abandoned house of the Horse Racing Society (1903-1905).

Demolition of the indoor ski center in Krasnogorsk. It closed due to the bankruptcy of the owner, and housing will be built instead.

"Crocus" business center and its surroundings. In 2024 it will become a place of a bloody terror attack.

Necropolis of the Donskoy Monastery.

Neighborhood of Shabolovka.

Northern River Station and Khimki Reservoir.

Navy Museum with an exhibition inside of an old submarine.

Houses in Kolomenskoye park.

Nikolo-Perervinsky monastery, which is clearly visible from Kolomenskoye.

Nagatinsky zaton.

New development in the area of the former western river port.

July 2023. Not everyone has taken off their stickers of Wagner PMC yet.

One of the most impressive views of Shelepikha and the Moscow City.

The improvement is not going any further, please get off your bikes.

In June, electric icebreaker vessels were launched on Moscow river. The queues however were too long to try them for a ride.

The manager's house at the Candy and pasta factories of I. L. Ding (1903).

Constructivist club of the Burevestnik factory (1928-1930).

An abandoned access road that used to lead to the Kurchatov Institute.

Izmailovo.

Neighborhood of Izmailovo. Particularly noteworthy there are buildings along 6th Parkovaya Street with old doors.

This is not exactly Moscow, of course, but in Kubinka an installation “a moment before the disaster” was installed near the entrance to Patriot Park.

A new church in Tushino district.

It is easy to guess that the architects are the same as those of the temple in Kubinka.

The play of light, the design - everything is top notch.

Other details and city views.

Finally: Tsaritsino, completely deserted in winter, where there are huge crowds of Ruddy shelducks.

Where to eat (as of May 2024): best Japanese food - Maru restaurant chain (former Marukame), best Italian food - Pinsapositana near Belorusskaya railway station, best Central Asian - Uryuk chain, best Jewish - Dizengof99, best cakes - Friends Forever and Conversation, best Coffee - nearly every coffee shop with the decent espresso machine would serve good coffee (just don't try Stars Coffee).
