One of the Russian World Heritage Sites, located 4 km east of Suzdal in Vladimir oblast. In the 12th century, Kideksha was a small town that formed around the palace of prince Yuri Dolgorukiy who also founded Moscow. The town was destroyed during the Mongol invasion and only the Churh of Boris and Gleb (1152) remained. In the 18th century a smaller Saint Stephen church was built nearby as well as leaning bell tower.
The architecture of the Church of Boris and Gleb is not very sophisticated, also its upper part underwent a major reconstruction in 17th century. The church has nice interiors with a few old frescoes, be sure to stop by if you will get there during the working hours.
Where to stay (as of May 2022): Kideksha is a small village, Suzdal will offer much better accommodation in any case.
Where to eat: as above.
What to buy: there may be some souvenir stands during the working hours of the museum.
