Bernovo

A nobility estate en route from Staritsa to Torzhok. Now it is one of the many Pushkin museums in Russia. The main house was restored after the WWII.

Tree support.

Assumption Church (1699), the main volume of which is made in Baroque style.

An amazingly beautiful spiral column.

The bell tower is already pseudo-Gothic, probably late 18th century.

When you bought a temple from IKEA and are now assembling it.

A part that didn't fit anywhere.

The monument to czar Alexander II, opened in 2018, was closed for the restoration.

In the village itself there are several surviving old houses, including this one, with the inscription 1909 ANIK on the facade.

But mostly it’s complete decay.

Getting in (as of June 2023): the road Staritsa - Bernovo - Torzok used to be one of the worst in Tver oblast, but now it is mostly excellent.
