Serpukhov

An old town in the southern Moscow Oblast. It has a lot of interesting things to see, but this time it's just a short afternoon walk in the center. The Lenin's statue on Market square and a weird art object.

Charging spot built into the bench.

In general, everything looks nice.

Crucifixion Church, still not fully renovated from Soviet times.

Its gate bell tower and other buildings.

Nikolsky Cathedral, which until the 1990s housed a pasta factory.

Branch of the Communist Party.

Other views.

Grape snails have never been in the Moscow region before, but gastropod lovers decided to introduce them. Therefore, now Moscovites live with grape snails.

Getting in (as of May 2023): express or local trains reach Serpukhov in one and a half to two hours. But the station is not very close to the city center. The M2 highway passes by the city, but it is prone to traffic jams.

What to eat: The Kitchen Market restaurant on Sverdlova steet offers great grill dishes.

What to buy: local cheese on the first floor underneath The Kitchen Market.
