A large industrial city on the Volga river. It has a good historical center, with nice old houses. However, it is difficult to single out something particularly noteworthy among them. Therefore, there are almost no foreign tourists in Samara.
A local Golden mile: Kuibysheva street.
Among generally recognized sights — a brutalist elevator.
Drama theater, rebuilt in 1960s.
Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (1906).
Post office with a globe on the facade.
Soviet constructivism.
Russian postmodernism.
I was especially impressed by the shopping center on the pedestrian Leningradskaya Street, with a statue of its founder and his sidekick.
"Historical Mosque" on Alexei Tolstoy Street. In fact, only a two-storey building in the depth is old, while the minaret and a main volume never existed before mid-2010s.
The building on the corner of Nekrasov and Frunze streets with a difficult fate. Initially, it was a church, which was converted in 1920s into a club for garment factory workers, and recently given to the theater. Pioneers and athletes (and the entire frieze) were returned during reconstruction at the end of the 2010s, before that they had not been there for half a century.
Nice half-timbered house in the back of the site on Chapaeva street.
Restored restaurant inscription from the time of the New economic policy of 1920s.
Brewery.
Synagogue.
Volga.
River port and an old warehouse.
Samara has very cozy courtyards and gateways.
