A birthplace of Vladimir Lenin (born Ulyanov). In Soviet era authorities tried to preserve everything that commemorates the first leader of the USSR. His father was a director of Public Schools for the province so the family had a modest house in the town center. In 1970 it was surrounded by a modernist museum which is slowly falling apart these days.
