Orekhovo-Zuevo

Orekhovo-Zuevo is a factory town in the eastern part of Moscow oblast. Even 15 years ago, he had a bad reputation because of the local delinquents. For example, if a salaryman wanted to leave Orekhovo-Zuevo for Moscow on the morning train, when he got into the car, he saw that playing cards were laid out on all the seats. And in order to sit down (the train takes two hours), everyone had to pay local bandits about $1 to remove the card. Otherwise, they could easily break the head of those who sat down and refused to pay.

Today morals have softened, the city looks completely safe. Morozov's texitle factory is slowly being turned into a hipster den.

The factory water station building looks like it's about to fall apart, but inside there's a great cafe where you can eat in the tub if you want.

Some protest against the special military operation in Ukraine.

Other details of the Morozov's factory.

A factory barrack on the other side of the railway tracks.

A water tower.

Hospital.

The former hospital chapel, now the church of Xenia of Petersburg. Let's give the floor to the commentators from Yandex Maps: "The priest reads the sermon from a smartphone and wears sneakers", "Many rowdy drunkards around with a terrible fumes. The worship often takes place along with the corpses lying in the middle of the temple. The priest is aggressive and arrogant".

A bus built in Tatarstan.

On the southwestern outskirts of the city, it is worth taking a glimpse on Podgornaya factory, which was owned by the Morozovs' rivals, the Zimins. You can freely enter the territory - there is a supermarket and car repair shops.

Getting in (as of May 2023): both suburban trains and M-7 highway from Moscow can be congested. But there aren't really any other choices.

Where to eat: The Garage cafe in Morozov's factory.
