A small town in the south-eastern part of Vladimir oblast, close to Murom. Here, in some incomprehensible way, the canna lilies in the flower beds grow taller than human height.
Melenki had its own very influential sculpture school at least until the 1980s. It was so influential that everyone was afraid to honestly say to sculptors that they were creating monsters.
Animal sculptures are somewhat better.

Bell tower of the cemetery Church of All Saints (1878). Since graves were built on the site of the church during Soviet times, the new church was moved to the side.
Social advertising against abortion was combined with campaigning for Special military operation in Ukraine.
St. Nicholas Church. The old building was demolished during Soviet times, in 1962 a cinema was built in its place, and now the cinema is being converted back into a church.
Former textile factory. Because of the bushes, it’s impossible to really photograph the façade and its water tower.
Park near the plant. They did a little landscaping in it, installed swings, but at the same time, unfortunately, they threw out the old sculptures from Stalin’s times.

An impressive mansion on Kalinin Street, which belonged to the merchants Valenkovs (1880).

Getting there (as of September 2023): take M-12 tallway from Moscow, the trip by car will take about 3 hours.
