Alexandrov

A town in Vladimir oblast which used to be a de-facto capital of Russia between 1564 and 1581 under Tzar Ivan the Terrible. His residence, called Alexandrovskaya Sloboda, was mostly rebuilt in 17th century. These days the site is shared between a convent and a museum.

Embankment of the Seraya River with a monument to Tsar Ivan the Terrible.

The town itself is not particularly interesting.

Getting there (as of September 2023): M-8 Higway (turn right few kilometers after Sergiev Posad) or a direct suburban train from Yaroslavsky rail terminal in Moscow.
