Belarus. Zhyrovichy

 

A village to the South of Slonim famous for its Zhyrovichi monastery, one of the most important Orthodox religious centers in Belarus. The huge Assumption Cathedral (1760) at the entrance.

Not so modern building of the local agricultural college.

 

There are interesting temples inside, but you can’t come closer: the entrance is only for the organized excursions with special blessings.

 

The cat at the entrance to the monastery is too busy to be a tour guide.

Getting in (as of April 2023): 10 minutes ride from Slonim.
