An industrial town in Nizhny Novgorod oblast. Its iron works were founded in the 18th century by Batashevs family. The Batashev palace-museum has been well restored.
Former main iron foundry was located just opposite the palace. Two funny turrets have been preserved.

Some of the workshops of the metallurgical plant in Vyksa were built by the famous engineer Shukhov, that's why his hyperboloid structures are very popular here.

City Palace of Culture (1929).
At the entrance there is a monument to Lenin (1927). Everyone already knows who Lenin is, so the plaque, instead of the usual “founder of the Soviet state,” describes in detail who made the monument.
In the eastern part of the city you can look at the Iversky Convent (second half of the 19th century). So far, the bell tower (in a distorted form) and secondary temples have been restored.
Residential and administrative buildings.
The giant monastery cathedral (1902) was blown up in 1929, but not completely: apparently, there was not enough explosives. The main dome is still missing; restoration work, judging by the state of the scaffolding, has stalled.

To the north-west of Vyksa there is the village of Doschatoe. Here you can look at the Batashevs' hunting lodge.
More precisely, to its preserved ruins.
Getting there (as of September 2023): the easiest is by M-12 tollway. There is no train station but it is possible to get here by bus from Murom.
