A town in Ryazan oblast. In the 1930-1960s local authorities outdid themselves and totally annihilated all the sights including cathedral. And replaced them with a generic Lenin's monument and a plain soccer field.

Recently, small models were installed near the places where the churches stood.

Early spring is not the best time to travel around Russia. Unless your goal is architectural photography without interfering foliage.

Lenin street had to be car-free but something went wrong.

Monumental house of culture with a statue dedicated to peace between nations.

Billboard says "For the president!"

"Let me in!" says the cat.

Old architecture is not particularly interesting.

Where to eat (as of April 2022): probably won't worth the search.

Where to stay: "Gostiny dvor" hotel looked promising, but does this city really deserve an overnight stay?

What to buy: The local meat processing plant has a store in the town center. Just avoid their stews.
