旅人る - Tabibito

Podmoklovo

A village in the south of the Moscow region with one of the most unusual Russian Orthodox churches of the early 18th century.

The Nativity Church was built by order of Dolgorukov, one of the associates of Emperor Peter I. The Renaissance Italian rotunda was taken as a model.

The rotunda of the temple is surrounded by an arcade, on which 16 figures of the apostles and evangelists are installed. It is believed that these are the oldest known Russian stone Christian sculptures. In Russian Orthodoxy, such statues are usually condemned. All statues are copies. The originals are in the Serpukhov Museum, or inside the temple itself. A few more were smashed by vandals in the 1980s.

Warehouse of old items.

The new item.

Tombstones and some strange column capital. Apparently, it arrived with new parts from the temple, but turned out to be redundant.

The former estate of the Dolgorukovs is abandoned.

There is nothing to do inside.

In the village itself, you can admire the vernacular architecture of personal storage facilities.

And a vernacular architecture of a stadium.
