Mikhaylov

An old town in Ryazan oblast near the highway Moscow — Tambov. It was bombed to oblivion in WWII and than lost nearly all it's old churches during Nikita Khrushchev's anti-religious campaign in early 1960s. Just one cozy old сhurch remains: Of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (completed by 1761).

Marketplace and streets nearby are a bit chaotic.

Among the few sights — an old riveted bridge across the Pronya river (1898).

And an old zemstvo (local government) building which houses the town administration.

Former treasury building, now the local museum.

The museum is the only place in the town where symbols of the special military operation in Ukraine can be seen.

Feline overlords.

New bus stops are slightly excessive.

Where to eat (as of April 2022): please don't eat off the locals.

Where to stay: why would you stay in such a godforsaken place?

What to buy: maybe an ice cream? When will you buy an ice cream in Mikhaylov again?
