Primorsk

A costal town in Leningrad oblast near Vyborg. It is most famous for the former Lutheran church of St. Mary Magdelene (1904). Now it houses a museum.

A dismantled monument to the north of the church. It was constructed in 2019 in memory of the Finns who died during the WWII. The local "caring residents" decided that it was glorifying Nazism, vandalized it several times, until in March 2022 the administration of Primorsk decided to dismantle everything. When asked by outraged Finns about why they dared to touch the war memorial, the authorities replied that it was built without permission.

Bjorksund Strait.

A pier protecting the Gulf of Katerlahti.

Views from the pier.

The old buildings in Primorsk are almost gone.

Getting in (as of November 2022): 2 hours ride from St. Petersburg via Zelenogorskoye and Primorskoye highways. 1 hour from Vyborg. Four buses per day from Parnas metro station. So it is most convenient to take a train or a bus from Vyborg.
